It is my proud privilege to invite you all to the 29th UP Chapter of the Annual conference of Radiation Oncologist of India to be held on 14th and 15th October, 2017 at Kanpur. It is being hosted by Royal Cancer Hospital, Kanpur - first private setup in the state of Uttar Pradesh, with a state of art True Beam facility and a fully comprehensive setup.
The theme of this conference is "Multidisciplinary approach to Cancer". It will be a 2 day academic meeting which will cover the role of Surgery, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy in some of the common cancers in India, like breast, lung, gynecological malignancy, gall bladder etc. The day will begin with half a day CME for residents in the field of Radiation Oncology. The CME will on "Concurrent chemo radiotherapy protocols in different sites". The conference will begin with poster viewing and judging during the lunch hour. This will be followed by guest lectures, orations, quiz, best paper award session and host of other academic interactions over the next 24 hours. For the benefit of residents in-training, the post lunch session on the second day will be a half a day hands-on workshop on "Head and Neck delineation".
The guest faculty being invited for this conference includes several national experts who will be sharing their vast clinical experience. For the residents in-training, we plan to have lucrative prizes and travel grant(s) as a way to encourage their academic excellence. We eagerly wait to welcome your accompanying delegate(s) as well in case you plan to bring them along. There will be several activities including shopping of leather goods, that will keep them engrossed. I personally request you to book the dates as it is your presence and participation that will make the conference successful.
A brief word about the city that will host you for those 2 days - Kanpur is the 2nd largest industrial town in North India, following Delhi. Its name is believed to have derived from Karnapur (meaning town of Karna – the eldest son of Kunti in Mahabharta). Kanpur is situated on the banks of river Ganga and is easily accessible by road, rail and air. It is known for famous institutions like IIT Kanpur, GSVM Medical College, CS Agricultural University that have prodiced many a stalwarts. The weather in the month of October will be pleasant and you can bring a thick garment for an odd nippy evening.
